“There has been a lot of evidence that [local organic farms] not only help mitigate climate change by reducing the transportation cost, but also by rebuilding the soil-microbiology, which is a way to sequester carbon.”

Circle Brook Farm

All veggies at CSA Newark are grown by John Krueger and his crew at Circle Brook Farm in Andover, NJ - a certified organic farm about an hour west/north-west of Newark. (veggies and all other things in the veggie share, like melons etc, which are technically fruit…)

Circle Brook Farm is a diversified, organic, vegetable farm, using regenerative practices and growing almost every type of produce possible in our New Jersey climate. Farmer John Krueger specializes in heirloom varieties. Flavor is the main criteria for John when selecting seeds.

Veggies are delivered once a week to the near-by pick-up locations (like CSA Newark) - no trucking of produce across the nation, means that they are fresher than anything you can possibly find in a supermarket.

Meet the farmer: John Krueger

John Krueger is the owner/operator of Circle Brook Farm. He has been an organic farmer for more than 25 years and providing certified organic produce to CSAs for more than 10 years starting with the Bloomfield-Montclair CSA in 2003. Circle Brook Farm currently services distribution sites in Montclair (3 locations), Westfield, Jersey City, Morristown, Newark, Metuchen, Staten Island, Caldwell, Millburn and New Brunswick.

We like to refer to John as a "steward of the land," since his way of farming (certified organic, crop rotation, regenerative) sustains and nourishes the soil. We think you can taste it in the products.

John was not born into a farming family, instead, he came to farming from an environmental perspective when he came to believe that a lot of the contamination of the planet was being caused by the way how we grow our food. John would not be a farmer if he was not an organic framer.
